Glide across the warm waters of the Gulf
With reliable trade winds and warm water year-round, the UAE is a fantastic windsurfing destination. Abu Dhabi and Dubai's coastlines offer excellent flat-water conditions.
Conditions
Windsurfing in the UAE
Windsurfing has a long history in the UAE. The calm, flat lagoons around Abu Dhabi and Dubai's sheltered bays are ideal for learning, while the East Coast's ocean breeze and occasional wave offers more advanced sailing for experienced windsurfers.
Best Windsurfing Spots
Abu Dhabi offers the most consistent flat-water conditions. Al Bateen Beach and the waters around Yas Island are popular with beginners and intermediate riders year-round.
Dubai — the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC) hosts regular windsurfing events and offers beginner courses. The beach conditions are good for flat-water racing and freeride.
Fujairah — the East Coast's winter trade winds (10–20 knots) combined with the ocean swell make for exciting wave sailing for intermediate and advanced windsurfers.
