Overview

Kite Beach in Jumeirah is the heart of Dubai's kitesurfing scene. The wide, sandy beach faces the Arabian Gulf and benefits from reliable thermal winds, particularly from late spring through autumn when the Shamal wind dominates.

Kitesurfing Conditions

  • Best months: May through October (Shamal season)
  • Wind direction: NW/W (Shamal), consistent afternoon thermal winds
  • Wind strength: 15–25 knots average
  • Water state: Flat to chop; protected by offshore islands in places

The area in front of Kite Beach is designated for kite launches, with a clear rider area managed by the Dubai government. Respect the designated zones — kitesurfing outside marked areas carries fines.

Windsurfing

The same consistent winds make Kite Beach excellent for windsurfing. The Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC) hosts windsurfing classes and events throughout the season.

Schools & Rentals

Several certified kitesurfing schools operate from Kite Beach:

  • Kitesurf Arabia — IKO-certified instructors
  • Dubai Kite School — beginners to advanced
  • Air Riders Kite School

The Beach Scene

Beyond the water, Kite Beach has a thriving beach culture with volleyball courts, a jogging track, food trucks, and plenty of seating. The backdrop of Dubai's skyline makes for spectacular sessions.
