Safety Essentials

Never snorkel alone — always have a buddy or stay within sight of a boat or shore. A bright-coloured rash guard makes you more visible to boats. In busy areas (especially Musandam), a diver-down flag is advisable. Check swell and current conditions — the East Coast is generally calm but seasonal Kaus winds can produce choppy water.
