The UAE has two distinct wind environments: the powerful summer Shamal on the West Coast (15–30 knots) and the more moderate winter trade winds on the East Coast (10–20 knots). Your gear choices should reflect which conditions you'll be riding most often.

Twintip (Most Popular)

Rides the same in both directions — no need to swap feet. Perfect for freestyle and freeride.

Size guide:

Light riders / light wind: 140–145cm
Average riders: 135–140cm
Heavy riders / strong wind: 130–135cm

Directional / Surfboard

Used for wave riding — becoming more popular in the UAE's East Coast surf.

Foilboard

Hydrofoil-assisted riding. Very efficient in light winds. Growing in popularity among UAE riders.

Safety Equipment

Always use:

Safety leash — connects you to the kite if you lose the bar
Impact vest — protects ribs and internal organs from falls
Helmet — especially when learning or in crowded conditions
